WA WOMEN'S HEAT WIN GOLD!!!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS to the WA Women's HEAT for winning their 2nd championship in 3 years! The girls showcased what calibre of baseball is being played in WA and kept all opponents on their toes. At the conclusion of the grand final the individual awards were announced and WA were prominent in all. Congratulations to all girls who won awards!
In what was a very tight game, both teams brought their A-game showing exactly why after seven days of play they were in the final. New South Wales came out swinging scoring two runs in the first showing their intentions to win the Championship after winning their first six games of the tournament. However it was in the top of the third inning that WA really found their form, scoring four runs on four hits to take a 4-2 lead. NSW quickly tied the game 4-4 on two hits in the bottom of the third. In a game that looked to go either way as both starting pitchers battled to keep their teams in the game, it was a stand out hitting performance from Natalie Rawlings that gave WA their second championship in three years. Rawlings hit 3 for 4 with four runs scored earning her last run scored on Christina Kreppold's double to left field. Undefeated New South Wales used three pitchers in what really could have been their game. But it was Western Australia's day, taking another big trophy back to the West Coast to join the 'Alchol Think Again' Perth Heat's 2012 ABL Championship title.

2nd May 2011 The 2011 National Championship has finished, with the WA Women's HEAT finishing 4th behind VIC Blue (1st), NSW (2nd) & CNSW (3rd). The young WA team has fought hard in all 8 games and showed the calibre of baseball that is being played in WA. The WA team won the GOLD Medal game last year, defeating NSW in the dying moments of the 7th inning. Unfortunately that dream will not come true this year, as WA went down 6-1 to NSW in the Semi Final, and sadly lost the Bronze Medal Game 6-1 to CNSW. The girls have fought hard this year, with a very young & inexperienced team, and should be proud of what they have achieved. Be happy with your efforts this year, and come back fighting next year!
